We have arrived!
January 29th, 2012 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »Well we made it to Roatan. Smooth traveling, no delays. We were greated by D from the clinic. He picked us up, stopped by the grocery near the airport, and drove us to the hostel. Our place is cozy and the other folks staying there are really nice. We met Miss Peggy and she gave us a quick 411 on the place and then she had to leave for a farewell dinner. We heard that there was a Catholic service at 7pm in town and I convinced Daniel to go with me. We took a cab ride down there and fortunately I was able to haggle the price down with my Spanish. The service was small and once again everyone was really friendly. After that, Daniel and I decided to cook some dinner in our “kitchenette” and then take a cool shower and hit the sack. This morning Miss Peggy and the rest of the clinic volunteers invited us to go to church with them on the West End. This is the tourist area where all the resorts are. So we all went to the Baptist service there held at one of the resorts which was a lot of fun. After, we had lunch on the beach and were able to snorkel for a bit before the rain came and sent us packing.
Now that we’re back in Sandy Bay, I was finally able to pick up my laptop and find some wifi at Miss Peggy’s place.
That’s about it for now. Tomorrow, clinic starts at 7:30. I’m excited!
