I am 25, in the last few months of my medical school training, and ready to leave the country!
I have wanted to go to Africa for a long time, and I have finally found the time, funds and opportunity to go. I could not be more excited to be heading abroad to work with a Pediatric Surgeon for four weeks in Saboba, Africa. I am not really sure what to expect, as I have never left the United States, but I am definitely more excited than nervous… although I am a little nervous! I think the traveling is the part that makes me the most anxious, but I am sure I will be there before I know it.
I know I will miss my family, friends, fiance and dog, but I know this experience will be one that I will never forget. I will try my best to update the blog as often as possible- but I am unsure of how reliable the Internet access is. I will have email access on my phone, so if anyone wants to send words of encouragement or update me on your life, feel free to email me!
