Disaster Medicine
February 26th, 2008 Posted in Disaster ManagementAn average of 303 million people worldwide have been affected by disasters, since 2002. Disasters, by definition, involve the health and safety of people. Medical practitioners play an important role in the prevention and response of disaster events. Rapid and strategic medical response to disasters is an essential indicator in reducing loss of life, establishing continuity of care, and developing mitigation to prevent future loss. Unfortunately, traditional medical education does not incorporate disaster medicine management within its curriculum. To the respond to this void in medical education, INMED is launching the Disaster Medicine Management Program. This educational program will provide didactic courses, lectures, and a symposium on disaster medicine management. The 2008 Disaster Medicine Management Symposium will provide attendees the knowledge needed to participate in the prevention and response activities of disaster management. More information on the 2008 Disaster Medicine Management Symposium will be available in the coming months. Please continue to visit www.inmed.us to stay up-to-date on INMED activities.
