What’s Binding You? – Angola Day 8

This morning I was part of the chapel service that the Angolas do here each Thursday. Their singing is amazing, and I find is fascinating to see how they have translated some of songs from English into Portuguese. Sozinho, one of the nurses, gave a presentation from John 11 – the account of Jesus bring Lazarus back to life. Sozinho focused on verse 43-44: “Jesus called in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out!’ The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, ‘Take off the grave wrappings and let him go.’ Then Sozinho asked a provoking question… “What sort of grave wrappings are still binding you?” Got me thinking about my pride and self-consciousness, especially.
