About Shelle Schwamberger

I am a 32-year-old female in my fourth year of medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, USA.

My love for Africa began as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana where I was teaching math and science in a rural secondary school.  However, my time there was cut short for medical reasons.  I then taught high school in North Carolina briefly before going back to grad school at Tulane University in New Orleans where I received my MSPH in Parasitology.  After that, thankfully, I was able to return to Africa for a year where I worked for an HIV research project in Zambia.

Following graduation from MCG, I’m planning to do a residency in Family Medicine and an HIV fellowship. My ultimate goal is to get back to Africa to work as a physician.
