\"clinica_morava_kids\"<\/a>We just returned from a walk around town.\u00a0 Sundays are the slowest days in clinic, which provides a nice break.\u00a0 A group from Colorado Springs was here last week working on construction and youth ministry\u00a0here in Ahuas and other towns in La Moskitia (accessible by water or air).\u00a0\u00a0 They worked closely with one of the 3 pilots in town,\u00a0Jorge.\u00a0 He is Dr. Norvelle\u2019s cousin and it was fun to\u00a0meet him last week.\u00a0 He\u00a0visits the States frequently because his wife and 2 daughters\u00a0live in North Carolina.\u00a0\u00a0Unfortunately, he doesn\u2019t have a great\u00a0impression of\u00a0Minnesota.\u00a0 The only time he has ever been in MN, he was on his way to Iowa\u00a0for a speaking engagement at a church and had a horrible sequence of mishaps. \u00a0His flight arrived late in Minneapolis and the next\u00a0one out to Iowa was too late to make it to church so he just stayed in Minneapolis.\u00a0\u00a0However,\u00a0his credit card had just expired\u00a0so he didn\u2019t have money for a hotel room, so he had to spend the night in the airport!\u00a0 Then he flew back home the next day – a completely wasted and frustrating trip.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re learning to expect frustrations as well – in travel arrangements, communication of information and expectations, schedules, lack of breadth of knowledge in tropical diseases, cockroaches, and illness (Carrie was sick for a couple days).\u00a0 But, as we approach the end of our time here,\u00a0we both agreed today that\u00a0we are glad we came and that\u00a0God has taught us many things about life\u00a0in 3rd world countries,\u00a0the universality of the Gospel, the state of healthcare both here and in the US, patience,\u00a0trust, and prayer.\u00a0 It\u2019s difficult to write about everything that is happening (and\u00a0it will\u00a0probably take years to fully\u00a0realize all the effects of this month), but we look forward to talking to all of you in person.\u00a0Hasta pronto !\u00a0Andrew & Carrie<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
